The Areas Served by Bound for Success, Inc. Sandoval County is 3714 square miles of diversity. It includes the incorporated municipalities of Bernalillo, Cuba, Corrales, Jemez Springs, Rio Rancho and San Ysidro; numerous un-incorporated communities, the community of Cochiti Lake, all or portions of nine Indian pueblos, three Navajo Chapters and part of the Jicarilla Apache Reservation.
There are large pockets of poverty throughout the county. For example, every school within the Bernalillo Public school District meets the eligibility requirement for the federally funded free or reduced lunch program as over 50% of their student population qualify as low income. Studies show that where there are pockets of poverty, there is also a high ratio of dropouts, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence.
